Futsal Rules and By-Laws

Field Dimensions

-50 yards in Length

-30 yards in width

-7 yard penalty arc

-3 yard center circle

-Marked with court tape

-Penalty mark 7 yards

-Second penalty mark 12 yards

Goal Size

-3 yards wide

-2 yards high

Ball

-Size 4 with reduced bounce

-See ball handout

Number of Players

-5 to include a goal keeper

-Minimum 4 to start but can finish with 3. Less than three and the game is terminated.

-Roster size is 10 players

-Subs can be made on the "fly," however, the player to be substituted for must be off the pitch before the new player enters the pitch.

Restarts

-All balls into touch over the touch line will be kicked in within 4 seconds of the ball being placed

-All balls into touch over the end line:

Attacking team- Goal keeper throw

Defending team- comer kick to be taken within 4 seconds of the ball being placed

-All balls that exceed 15-feet in height will be considered into touch and the restart will take place where the ball reached the 15-foot mark in the opinion of the referee. This will be indirect.

-All balls that hit the ceiling, lights, or score board will fall under the previous by-law, however, the person that kicked it will receive a yellow card and be sent to the penalty box for 2 minutes. This is to protect the facilities.

-A goal may not be scored directly from a kick-in.

Players Equipment

-Shoes must be of the non-marking sole type

-No jewelry, watches, dog tags, etc.

Game Duration

-20 minutes clock

-Only stops on goals scored, time-outs, referee discretion

-Half-time 5 minutes

-Tie games will be decided by the taking of kicks from the penalty mark

-Each team has I one minute time-out per half.

Fouls and Misconduct

-No slide tackles- blue card

-No shoulder charges- blue card

-No charging the goalkeeper- blue card

-A player shall be shown the blue card, sent to the penalty area and may be shown a yellow card for the following:

-during a flying" substitution, he enters the pitch before the player being replaced has entirely left it, or if he enters the pitch from an incorrect position

-he persistently infringes the laws of the game

-he shows, by word or action, dissent with any decision on the referees

-he is guilty of unsporting conduct

-3 trips to the penalty box is an automatic ejection from the remainder of that game and the next

-Any player ejected from the game whether he received 2 yellows, a red or 3 trips to the penalty box must leave the gym.

-The player that has been sent off may be substituted for after two minutes.

  Accumulated Fouls See Law XIV

-Accumulated fouls refer only to all the fouls mentioned in Law XII (a through k ( to 11))

-Once a team has accumulated 5 fouls during a half (those accumulated in the second half continue to accumulate into extra time), from the 6th foul:

-That team shall not be allowed a defensive wall

-All flee kicks shall be direct (no indirect free kicks)

-Infringements committed within 12 meters of the goal line shall be punished with a direct free kick from the point of infringement; infringements committed from 12 meters or further from the goal line shall be punished with a direct free kick from the second penalty mark.

-Procedure

-Until the ball is kicked into play, all players other than the goalkeeper and kicker shall remain behind an imaginary line that is in line with the ball and parallel to the goal line

-The goalkeeper shall remain in his penalty area at least 5 yards away from the ball

-The kicker must aim at the goal, with the intention of scoring

-No other player may touch the ball until it has been touched by the pitch, rebounded from the goal post or crossbar, or has left the pitch

-If the infringement took place in the penalty area (and does not merit a penalty kick), the free kick is to be taken from the 7 yard line on the spot nearest to where the infringement occurred
